Green Monkey Smoothie

This smoothie knocks each of those demands out of the park. It’s packed with veggies, protein, and healthy fats. It’s smooth, creamy, and tastes scrumdiddlyumptious. It’s the full package.

Jackson and I never imagined we would own a Vitamix Blender. We didn’t make smoothies a lot and our Ninja blender worked just fine. (We still love and use our Ninja!)

But to someone who grew up icee, mister misty, orange julius obsessed, a machine that makes the smoothest of smoothies was a dream. In order to know if purchasing a Vitamix was worth our investment, we developed a game plan.

We began using our Ninja blender a lot more. Whether it was making smoothies, chopping veggies, or mixing pancake batter, we put that blender to work.

Storage was one of the biggest road blocks. We decided we’d give a new blender priority spacing on the counter instead of storing it in the cabinets. This would hopefully eliminate any possible hassle of taking it out or putting it away.

We’ve had our Vitamix blender for a couple weeks and have made a veggie packed smoothie almost every day! And this means there will be many more smoothie recipes to come. To kick it off, I’m sharing my go-to smoothie recipe—Green Monkey Smoothie.

Green Monkey Smoothie Recipe


  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1-2 tsp peanut butter (or any nut butter)
  • 3 cups of kale or spinach
  • ½ banana, frozen
  • 5 ice cubes


  1. Pour the milk into the blender first.
  2. Then add the protein powder and peanut butter.
  3. Dump everything else in, secure the lid, and blend until smooth.

Bonus tip: Measure out your kale or spinach and banana ahead of time and keep it in the freezer so you can take it out whenever the smoothie craving hits and it’ll be ready to go!
